Geniuscribes offers editing services ranging from $0.02/word to $0.04/word. After you submit your entire document for review, we will assess your writing level and recommend the type of editing that is needed to produce a well-written, professional document.
How do you determine what rate I will pay to have my document edited?
What are the different types of editing that you offer?
There are several different types of editing that can be done on a document. We list them for you below in order of less costly to more costly. See below for how each level of editing is defined.
Level 1: Basic Proofreading – Checks for typos, misspellings, errors in punctuation, etc.
Level 2: Copy Editing – Corrects grammar, word usage, re-writes select sentences for better flow, etc.
Level 3: Developmental Editing – Corrects organization, structure, flow, addresses issues of content, adjusts wording for reading level, and takes a substantive approach to preparing a manuscript for publishing.
Writing Retreats
Sometimes, aspiring authors like to cut away from their every life and spend some dedicated time working on their books. We get it. Sometimes, you don’t want to drag out a project; you just want to immerse yourself in it for a specified amount of time and get it done. Aspiring authors have been asking us to host such experiences for years, and we have heard their cry!
By popular demand, we host several 4-day, 3-night writing retreats a year for both literary writers and Christian writers. All retreats are held in hotels in the most beautiful, weather-friendly cities of the nation. This allows you to work by day and take breaks that allow you to see the sights during breaks and in the evenings. What is included in the cost of the retreat?
The retreat cost includes the following (note that travel and transport to/from airport are not included):
- Single-occupancy lodging for 3 nights at the host hotel (check in Monday, check out Thursday)
- Breakfast, lunch and snacks daily (breakfast only on Thursday)
- Retreat materials
- Group coaching / writing sessions
- One-on-one coaching / writing sessions
Are there any extra charges or add-ons for the retreat?
Yes, there are two optional add-ons that promise to enhance your retreat experience:
Add-on 1: Jump Start Extra – You send us four one-hour mp3 recordings of you talking about the content that goes in your book. If you’re a motivational speaker, this might be four speeches that you’ve delivered. If you’re a professor, this might be four lectures that you’ve done. If you’re a pastor, this might be four sermons you’ve delivered. Our experts will transcribe, organize, and arrange the content for you prior to your arrival at the retreat. Geniuscribes STRONGLY recommends this add-on!
Ordering Jump Start Extra ensures that by the time you arrive at the retreat, you’ll be halfway done with getting your book completed! The bulk of your retreat writing experience will consist of you filling in gaps, inserting stories or verbal illustrations, clarifying principles, etc. This extra also ensures that your writing coach is already intimately familiar with your project and can give you more specific coaching and direction. It’s a great Jump Start to the writing process!
Add-on 2: Dedicated Typist – Some people have a difficult time getting their books completed because they are not the best typists. The thought of spending hours hunting and pecking on a keyboard is enough to fill them with anxiety. We can help with that by providing you with a dedicated typist who can type so quickly it’ll make your head spin! This makes the intensive writing process that we engage in at the retreat much easier for you. You can focus on thinking about the content, and as you verbalize your thoughts, your dedicated typist will record them directly into your manuscript!
